This is how it works....The advertisers such as blockbuster, aol, comcast, buys thousands or millions of products (psps, ipods, tv's, etc) and basically send them to gratis, in return gratis offers these products for free for people who sign up for the advertisers offers...so for instance i sign up for blockbuster online and then i have to refer 5 friends to do the same (or another offer). Blockbuster (or another company) gets all these subscribers (therefore more customers and more profit) and we get a $250 psp or $250 ipod or $500 tv or computer, etc..........now as with any subscription you can cancel you subscription to the advertisers site within 30 days without being charged a dime, so you basically win out....the way the advertisers turn a profit is because out of the millions of people signing up to get the free product there is bound to be hundreds of thousands who stick with their subscription....having the ability to order movies online (like netflix) is something that appeals to a ton of people so some people say "hey i'd like to keep my subscription, it is only like $10.00 per month so why not...even at the end of a year you still have paid less for your subscription than if you were to actually buy your free product...so it's win win...........to sum this all up this is really like a promotional tool to raise awareness about a product or service.....
